Biomass burning emission inventory for China

This is a new emission inventory database for open biomass burning in China during 1980‒2017 developed by Peking University (Yu Song). The emissions of ten chemical species are given in the inventory: SO2, NOx, CO, NMVOCs, NH3, PM10, PM2.5, BC, OC, CO2. The inventory for the years 2003‒2017 is developed based on the fire radiative power data from MODIS active fire products, with about 0.1° spatial resolution and monthly/daily temporal variation. Four types of open fires are identified: forest, shrubland fires, grassland and cropland. The emissions for 1980‒2002 are estimated primarily using the Chinese provincial-level statistical year book, only those for forest fires in 2000‒2002 estimated using satellite-based burned area products.

- The biomass burning emission inventory is restricted to non-commercial purposes. Any uses of this emission inventory by business organizations are regarded as commercial purpose which needs prior authorization.
- Users are not permitted to distribute the emission data to any third-party.
- User must ensure the data integrity and independence when using this emission inventory. Without explicit and prior authorization, no organization or individual is allowed to integrate any forms of the emission data into other emission products or models.
